Wireless Internet Access Service to Launch in Yokohama area
Wire and Wireless Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; president: Masao Hibino; hereinafter "Wi2") launches Wireless LAN internet access service in Yokohama area as of July 1st, 2009. The addition of this area will bring the total count of Wi2 300 access points (AP) to approximately 6,800.
Wi2 provided WiFi trial service in Yokohama bay area from July to October in last year and cultivated the knowhow for WiFi service there. The knowhow and equipment of the trial are utilized in the commercial WiFi service.
The service is available in the major sightseeing spots currently alive with Y150 EXPO, including Yokohama Stadium, MotoMachi Dori, Red Brick Warehouse, Isesakicho, and Chinatown. Wi2 also plans to introduce content delivery service and application that suit Yokohama area.

Wi2 will generate new use scenarios through promotion of its wireless platforms while expanding its lineup of entertaining content. Wi2 expects that wireless broadband including Wireless LAN will fit into different lifestyles.
