Wire and Wireless Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "Wire & Wireless"; headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Masao Hibino) will launch a Wireless LAN internet access service trial at Cerulean Tower Tokyo Hotel from February 12, 2009.

Wire & Wireless will install wireless LAN access points in Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel thanks to the cooperation of Tokyu Hotels Co., Ltd to provide hotel visitors with wireless internet at the lobby. Any hotel customer can go to the hotel front desk to get the ID and password required for accessing Wireless LAN and get easy access to the internet on their Wi-Fi (Wireless LAN)(*1) enabled mobile phones and game consoles.

Wire & Wireless plans to market the needs for wireless LAN at hotels and its easy operation through this trial service. The company will particularly focus on providing tourists and business travelers from abroad with higher needs for wireless LAN with user-friendly systems.

Wire & Wireless is committed to generating new use scenarios by expanding wireless LAN, while enriching entertaining content for users. The company hopes that the wireless broadband services such as wireless LAN will be spread more widely.

*1 Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is an IEEE 802.11 series standard and a network built based on the Wi-Fi technology is generally called Wireless LAN. This short range communication system uses unlicensed spread spectrum such as 2.4GHz band and 5GHz band and supports the maximum reach of 100m and the maximum transfer speed of 54Mbps. Wi-Fi is supported by various mobile devices including laptops, mobile phones such as iPhone and game consoles such as Nintendo DS, PSP(TM), iPod(R)touch.
